Materials

One of the big complaints that we've heard from people over the years about custom toys is the quality of the materials. "Too fragile, too weak, too light, etc". We heard this and thought, why? Why are so many custom toys made from such crap? Well as it turns out the answer is fairly simple. Cost, well cost and ignorance. Most custom toys are made from whatever material happens to be laying around the customizer's house or available at the local hobby shop or craft store. That mainly means styrene, acrylic, clay, modeling putty of various types, foam, tape, wire, cardboard, on and on. So while the end result of the work that's completed may look good in a low resolution picture the actual toy is something less than stellar. In many cases the people who buy toys made in this way are bitterly disappointed in what they've purchased. Heck we've got toys sitting on our shelves right now made with these types of materials... Anyway we decided that this was not how we'd make our products.

We use high quality, high density, high tensile strength polyurethane plastic in all our pieces. So ok, what the heck does that mean? It means our toys are strong and play-ready. You can actually touch them and handle them, without fear of them falling apart.

Here's what we use:

PolyTek 1512x

Industrial Polymers ProtoCast 80R

Both of these materials require vacuum chamber mold processes as well as pressure pot casting processes. This requires a high degree of time, money, patience, and skill to produce small, accurate parts that are both ridged and tough enough to withstand the rigors of play.
